Bridge 49 is a 50 cover cafe bar & bistro on the banks of the Union Canal next to the Causewayend Marina. A family-run business, Bridge 49 offers great food and wine along with stunning canal views. The outside seating area is popular during the sunnier months and many customers drop by for a bite after strolling along to the nearby Avon Aquaduct.
Freshly cooked dishes are at the heart of the several menus on offer at Bridge 49. Whether you want a breakfast bagel, lunchtime panini or sirloin steak dinner, the kitchen brigade at Bridge 49 will provide. During the day, there is a wide choice of sandwiches, baked potatoes, omelettes, salads and burgers alongside traditional favourites such as the steak pie, macaroni cheese and battered haddock.
As night falls, more complex options join the choices. Think along the lines of leek and mushroom risotto; sizzling fajitas and chicken escalopes filled with basil and sun-blushed tomatoes, all wrapped in Parma ham.
Bridge 49 is on the Union Canal next to the Causewayend Marina. It is on the B825, accessible from the A801. Linlithgow is the nearest town. Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling are all under an hour’s drive using the M8 or M9. There is ample parking at Bridge 49 or you could just cruise up the canal. Muir Wood and Muiravonside Country Park are local attractions.
