A smart contemporary dining space, Flemings Restaurant is part of The Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort by Cumbernauld. Nestling at the foot of the Campsie Hills, the hotel and Flemings are popular with business and leisure guests plus, of course, golfers who come to play the hotel’s par 72 course.
In addition to a six course tasting menu, Flemings Restaurant offers a creative a la carte menu. Scottish produce is prominent throughout in dishes such as the seared rib-eye of Cairnhill beef or the soy-glazed pork belly, fillet and crackling which is served with Arran mustard mash, Savoy cabbage and Ayrshire bacon, broccoli and a parsnip purée. The chefs are confident in their use of exotic ingredients. For example a starter of confit duck and potato galette is served with spiced Puy lentils, kumquat caramel and coriander oil while a main course of calves’ liver features a pomegranate dressing. More conventional options might be the featherblade of beef Wellington with a mushroom duxelle, garlic green beans, truffle mashed potatoes and turnip purée.
Flemings Restaurant is part of The Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort on St Andrew’s Drive on the outskirts of Cumbernauld. Easily reached from the M80, the hotel has ample car parking. The nearest train station is Croy, five miles from the hotel. Designed by Seve Ballasteros and Dave Thomas, the 18-hole par 72 course at the hotel is a big attraction.
