Niven’s by Cafe Source is the youngest sibling of the popular Scottish restaurant family. With a focus on small plate dishes meant for sharing, menus are built around first class, ethically sourced Scottish produce that blends the modern with the traditional.
Niven’s by Cafe Source offers breakfast, brunch and evening menus with a distinctly international feel. Individual items can change, but brunch options could include the India tomato, chilli & spinach scramble with bombay potatoes, spiced onion and flatbread (vegan option available), or the cullen skink toastie with smoked haddock, leek and melted mature cheddar on Niven’s sourdough.
Highlights of the small plate evening menu include the crispy Ramsay’s pork belly with fennel remoulade, roast pineapple and curry oil; the braised ox cheek & haggis pithivier with turnip puree and horseradish mash, and the pan-fried sesame sea bass with sweet & sour carrot accompanied by Chinese salad. Vegetarians can sample dishes such as the wild mushroom & blue murder gnocchi while vegan options include the sweet potato & chickpea curry.
Niven’s by Cafe Source is on Nithsdale Road in Strathbungo. Local attractions include the buzzing bars of nearby Pollokshaws Road, Queen’s Park and the Tramway theatre. The nearest train station is Pollokshields West and there is limited on street parking.
