From serving 70 different varieties of gin to the gin-inspired dining menu, Gin71 is a one-stop shop for lovers of the juniper-flavoured spirit. Tucked away on Victoria Court, in Glasgow’s Merchant City, this evening venue is popular for after work drinks, pre-theatre meals and dinner with friends and family. As well as gin tasting events, they offer a wide variety of gin cocktails along with other spirits, beers and wines.
As you may have guessed, the dishes at Gin71 are often flavoured with juniper, gin-inspired ingredients and botanical themed elements. The kitchen likes to use Scottish ingredients as much as possible and the menus evolve with the seasons.
Designed to be highly flexible, the menus offer sharing platters, big plates, little plates, sides, snacks and a selection of mac ‘n’ cheese dishes. Typical starters are the gin-infused king prawns served with a Martini aioli or the venison tartare flavoured with Pickerings 1947 Spiced Gin Oil.
Main courses include the hearty flat iron steak with a pepper sauce made from Edinburgh Cannonball Gin and the lemon, coriander and fennel risotto with Death’s Door gin. Alternatively, split a cheeseboard, charcuterie or seafood platter with a friend.
Located on Virginia Court, just off Virginia Street, Gin71 Merchant City is a brisk five minute walk from Queen Street and Central train stations. There is restricted on-street parking and a pay car park on Ingram Street. Local attractions include the City Halls and the Old Fruitmarket.
