    A Gem!

I had planned to go to a restaurant along the road but changed my mind at the last minute and am really pleased that I did. This place has it all. Staff who are friendly and courteous, great food at a reasonable price and a good ambiance.

    Quiet night

This is a little traditional Italian restaurant . Lovely to hear Italian spoken and they serve a little know Italian beer. I had king prawn starter which came with rice which possibly the waiter could have warned me about as my main course was risotto ! Food was fine but not amazing. Service very good. We were only people there so very quiet atmosphere.

Authentic Italian in West End

Tarantino’s Ristorante is on the Kelvingrove end of Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow’s West End. Owned and run by the eponymous Gi Tarantino, this simply decorated restaurant is a showcase for the culinary traditions and flavours of Nardo, his hometown in Puglia. Since opening in 2014, the restaurant has won glowing reviews from both the public and newspaper reviewers.

Regional Italian cooking

The kitchens at Tarantino Ristorante prepare freshly cooked, authentic dishes. The use of regional ingredients, such as Primitivo wine in the sauces, underlines the chefs’ commitment to the flavours of Puglia. Freshly made pasta, such as the wild boar ravioli, are always popular as are seafood dishes like the pan-fried sea bream covered with courgette flowers and topped with crispy pancetta and crushed Amaretti biscuits.

The meat options are both mouth-watering and refreshingly different from most mainstream Italian menus. Veal is pan-roasted with chestnuts, red wine and veal jus while the pollo birra e carciofi delivers chicken breast pan-roasted with red onions, rosemary, artichokes and finished with Italian handcrafted beer. The Italian cheese selection comes strongly recommended.
