We enjoyed our afternoon in The Anchor Line. Food, drinks and atmosphere all excellent. Made even better by being seated at a round table.

Housed in the beautifully restored booking offices of a former shipping company, The Anchor Line is a stunning restaurant and bar on St Vincent Place. Featuring an elegant Art Deco interior and fascinating Anchor Line memorabilia, the restaurant is designed to celebrate the Glasgow to New York ocean voyages of the 1920s and 30s. The cocktail list mirrors the glamour of that era.
The American influence on The Anchor Line kitchens comes through in dishes like the smoked St Louis ribs, the burgers, the buttermilk mash and the grilled corn purée served with the seared scallops starter. At the same time, the local provenance of ingredients like the Shetland salmon and Scotch lamb is loud and clear.
Listing Cumbrae oysters, lobster and prime cuts of Aberdeenshire beef, the menus at The Anchor Line have plenty to offer diners who want to celebrate. Those that are not in the mood to push The Anchor Line boat out can tuck into customisable Caesar salads, beef Stroganoff; Barbary duck crusted with juniper and orange and the ever popular angel-cut haddock and chips.
The Anchor Line is on St Vincent Place, just around the corner from George Square and a brief walk from Queen Street and Central Station transport hubs. There is restricted on-street parking and several nearby pay car parks. Local attractions include the Gallery of Modern Art and the shops of Buchanan Street.
