20 months since our last visit and we were looking forward to being back. The food was as usual brilliant. Highly recommend the Fish Pakora and the Rogan Josh. All our food including the sundries were first class. Service was excellent, Mohammed certainly looks after his guests. Going back in a fortnight.

Charcoals is an award-winning restaurant on Renfield Street in the city centre of Glasgow serving Indian cuisine cooked on a charcoal grill. The relaxed eatery prides itself on providing diners with exceptional food and service, and given Charcoals’ popularity with regular visitors as well as newcomers this is a certainly a winning combination. The restaurant also welcomes customers with children and offers smaller portions for the younger curry fans.
The chefs at Charcoals freshly prepare every dish on the restaurant’s extensive menu and will often alter items to cater for gluten-free and vegetarian diets or, indeed, for the milder palate. The pakora starters are often a hit with the restaurant’s guests, particularly the Lahori fish option. Tikka dishes like the mango chicken tikka are also popular at Charcoals, which are each marinated in a host of exotic spices for 24 hours before being cooked in the tandoor.
Classic curries like the chasni (sweet & sour), South Indian garlic chilli (hot & spicy) and malaidar (spinach with garlic & cream) feature on Charcoals menu. However, guests will also find lesser-known items like the adraki gosht (lamb with green herbs & fresh ginger), the keema aloo (mince & tatties curry) and the chicken tikka jhatpat (chicken with green herbs, black pepper & cheese).
Charcoals is on Renfield Street in the city centre, just 2 minutes from Glasgow Central train station. Queen Street train station is a brisk 5 minute walk from the restaurant, and there are numerous bus stops and routes close by. The St. Enoch and Buchanan Street Subway stations are a short distance from Charcoals, and paid car parking is also near the restaurant at the NCP car park on Mitchell Street.
