Our booking had not been recorded but on production of the 5pm email, all effort was made to honour the booking. The menu on offer was totally different from the published one, however we were invited to choose whatever we liked from the standard Table d'hôte on offer charged at the pre-booked price. Nothing was too much trouble for the management team to ensure we were satisfied. This restaurant is a credit to the hospitality industry. Well done to all.

Maison Bleue Le Bistrot is the sister restaurant of the iconic Victoria Street Maison Bleue. Although the bistro aims to bring a touch of authentic Parisian cafe culture to Morningside, the menu is also delightfully eclectic with various Scottish and global influences. Inside, you will find a relaxed French vibe of exposed brickwork and buttoned velvet booths, making this a great spot for a casually elegant meal.
At Maison Bleue Le Bistrot, you can enjoy French food influenced by North African, Creole and Vietnamese cuisine, combined with a Scottish twist.
Menus can change regularly but typical starters might include the range of “bouchees” (mouthfuls) designed to be shared. These include the signature Surprise Calamari with the secret spicy sauce, the haggis balls deep fried in beer batter with whisky jus, and the fondue de Camembert.
Mains might feature the slow-cooked beef cheeks with a red wine glaze and garlic mousseline of mash, the Vietnamese chicken aromatic with sweet basil, lemongrass and lime leaves, and the confit duck leg slowly cooked in goose fat, bean cassoulet and lardons.
Or you could choose from the Les Grillades range of Mediterranean skewered and marinated meats cooked on a char grill or alternatively, sample one of the tasty tagines.
Maison Bleue Le Bistrot is on Morningside Road, around a fifteen minute drive from the city centre. It is close to both the Church Hill Theatre and the Dominion Cinema, meaning you could enjoy a relaxed meal here before a show or film.
