The restaurant is very modern and clean. The staff made our arrival very welcoming. The food was excellent, not only in taste but also portion size. The waiter was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. It was a very enjoyable evening and we will definately return. We will also recommend Amarone to family and friends. Can't wait to return.

From its central location on the corner of George Street and St Andrews Square, the Italian restaurant and bar Amarone is the ideal venue for a business lunch, romantic meal, dinner with friends or after work drinks.
Decorated in the style of a contemporary Milanese pizzeria, the restaurant serves a range of Italian dishes as well as Italian wines, including Prosecco, and a cocktail list with a distinct Italian flavour.
Traditional Italian classics are the speciality of Amarone and pizza and pasta lovers are spoiled for choice. The restaurant also serves a range of fish, meat and salads; all created using the freshest local ingredients.
Popular dishes include petto d’anatra all’ Amarone: pan seared duck breast served pink with Amarone wine sauce, braised Savoy cabbage, pancetta and confit of figs or the fritto misto: a selection of fresh Scottish fish and shellfish dressed in a light batter, deep fried and served with hand cut chips. Diners can finish their meal with a drink from the extensive liqueurs menu which includes limoncello, Frangelico and Bailey’s.
Only a five minute walk from Waverley train station, Amarone’s central location makes it an ideal dining spot during a day out in Edinburgh. Many of the national galleries are within a ten minute walk and both Harvey Nicks and the temptations of George Street are on the door step. Taxis, buses and trams are abundant. Parking is limited.
